Greg Carmack - Windows MVP 2010-2020

Hi Steve. I'm Greg, awarded MVP for eleven years, Volunteer Moderator, and Independent Advisor here to help you until this is resolved.

iPhone is not supported for much in WIndows 10 Your Phone app yet. The most it can do is here along with other conveniences:

I hope this helps. Based on what you report back I can answer any questions and may have other steps to perform.

It's actually fairly simple. Windows 10's Your Phone app is designed with Android in mind. iPhones are not well supported by the Your Phone app. The only capabilities of iPhones in the Your Phone app are to send a webpage from your iPhone to your Windows PC. If you want good integration with the Your Phone app, replace your iPhone with an Android.

So recently just purchased a new laptop for small office/audio/recreation.  spent alot of time debating many different aspects.  Windows platform again, or for a few bills more a macbook.  since i already have an extensive software library compatible with MS os, i said lets do it.  was excited by the features the most recent build had to offer,  hands free voice assist, phone linking adn etc.  To Note avid iphone user for 15 years,  dont plan on changing.  Very sadly disappointed with the features offered by MS.  To address this thread I should have researched further I understand, but the "Your Phone" app is basically useless with iOS. I can send a webpage to my phone so many other ways, In an article I read stating that Windows had done extensive studies into the Android and iOS environment.  Well not very much into the latter.  And with Siri, Google Assist, Alexa, who can understand quite a few commadns, Windows VR is like talking to an 8 year old speaking a different language.  Truly expected so much more from tis build.  Will not be recommeding and will continue creating code and hacks around this sad dinosaur.  Lastly, in the response above.  If you want it to work, simply switch to Android.. Im good wont be doing that, laptop being returned and replaced with iOS.  better faster harder stronger.  Later Windows.

Hi Shevan,

I suggest you replace your Windows PC with a Mac OS system. Texting from that platform via iPhone works perfectly and seamlessly. If you surmise that your comments were not helpful, you are 100% correct.

So that means it's pretty useless right. Google Chrome has that feature. So there's no point of installing two apps in my phone to do the same think.

Yeah I tried it myself and was hoping it could replace the message sync I had with my Macbook. I don't see that it does much in terms of features? Given that Apple locks down everything and this is a Microsoft app I imagine that people have better luck with a Android phone. Well, it was worth a try but I just deleted my iPhone from the app. It also requires you to install Edge on your iPhone as well so a plus for Microsoft I guess to push their browser onto devices. Since it has to run Safari's web engine anyway I don't really find a need for Edge on my iPhone. I use Edge exclusively on all my Windows PC's and its a great browser, just not interested on my iPhone.

I am sorry for this but that is pretty much fake too, as your phone app works only with Samsung, standard Android get pretty much same feature as iPhone, just get more easily downloaded photo, that is solved with iCloud anyway

I've synced my iPhone to the Your Phone app that's on my windows 10 desktop.

However, there are no features. I do not get alerts from my phone on my computer, and I have no options to write or view messages.

The only options available are My Devices and Personalization. There is a features option, but it is grayed out.

What steps am I missing?

I'm heading out of town for a few days, I'll check back over the weekend or early next week.

I'd love

I want to take a moment to emphasize this: Apple has made it really hard for any devs from other companies to create convenient tools for users. So, it's not because of Microsoft or Windows that you can't access these features. It's because Apple wants you to be sucked into it's world and only buy it's products. This way Apple benefits from you financially again and again. I can't think of any other reason, can you?
